º£½ÇÉçÇø and Baltimore City Schools have launched the Innovative Degree Apprenticeship Program to address the teacher shortage in Maryland. The program, funded by a state grant, is designed for paraprofessionals aspiring to become classroom teachers. Participants earn 15 credits through traditional coursework and complete 45 credits through 2,000 hours of training, including a year-long mentorship and competency-based activities. The program offers financial support, including tuition, fees, books, and a monthly stipend. After 18 months, 10 paraeducators will graduate and commit to teaching in their sponsoring school system for at least two years.

The School of Education offers two Ph.D. programs for individuals looking for executive level education to enhance their leadership, knowledge, and practitioner skills.  The Ph.D. in Instructional Leadership for Changing Populations is designed for P-12 teachers and administrators who seek advanced coursework in education and the opportunity to develop original research and scholarship at the forefront of their profession.  The program also offers an Occupational Therapy tract for OT professionals whose positions require a terminal degree.  The Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership for Changing Populations provides a pathway to advanced learning for college and university professionals, serving as a foundation for careers in higher education leadership, scholarship, and practice. 

The MAT/GEI is an innovative teacher certification program that provides aspiring teachers with the opportunity to complete a yearlong school-based experience while pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching. Students may also pursue dual certification with options including high-need areas such as English as a Second Language (ESOL) and Special Education.

º£½ÇÉçÇø (NDMU) and St. John's College Graduate Institute have partnered to offer a Joint Master's-Level Teaching Certification program. The program enables Graduate Institute students to earn a Liberal Arts Education Certificate from St. John's College and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from NDMU in just two years. This partnership aims to address the teacher shortage in Maryland and prepare highly qualified educators. Additionally, NDMU has received a state grant to launch the Elevates program, which offers paraprofessionals a pathway to earn a bachelor's degree and special education certification through a unique apprenticeship program.
