FERPA sets limits on the disclosure of personally identifiable information from school records, and defines the right of the student to review the records and request a change to the records.

The office of financial aid must have an Authorization to Release Information Form on file in order to speak with anyone other than the student about personal financial aid information. This form is kept in the student鈥檚 file.

The registrar鈥檚 office sends an email once a year to all students notifying them of the FERPA policy.

Information is also available in:

  • School of Pharmacy Student Handbook

Consent Not Required

FERPA permits the disclosure of personally identifiable information, without student consent, if the disclosure meets certain conditions found in 搂99.31 of the FERPA regulations to the following parties:

  • School officials with legitimate educational interests;
  • Other schools to which a student is transferring;
  • Specified officials for audit or evaluation purposes;
  • Appropriate parties in connection with financial aid to a student;
  • Organizations conducting certain studies for or on behalf of the University;
  • Accrediting organizations;
  • Parent of a dependent student as defined for IRS tax purposes;
  • To comply with a judicial order or lawfully issued subpoena;
  • Appropriate officials in cases of health and safety emergencies;
  • Information the University has designated as 鈥渄irectory information鈥;
  • Alleged victim of a crime
  • Parent of a student under 21 regarding the violation of a law regarding alcohol or drug abuse
